NBAD Board Notice – Individuals seeking practical dietetics experience in NB
It is the responsibility of Registered Dietitians registered with NBAD to notify the NBAD office of requests from any applicant seeking practical dietetic experience in New Brunswick. This step serves to seek approval from NBAD for the applicant to perform the duties, tasks and functions while gaining dietetic experience. Only those authorized by NBAD according to the NBAD Act, Regulations and Bylaws are eligible to gain dietetic experience in a practical setting.
AGM & Education Event – Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst Friday, May 27!
Thank you for your responses on the members’ survey to assist the Board in the AGM planning! We are excited to try the new format this year – paring the AGM with an education event and videoconferencing it around the province as per members’ responses. By now you have all received your invitation for this half day event, many have sent in their RSVP and proxies – thank you!
- A reminder if you are not present in Bathurst at the meeting, voting by proxy is required since at this time our Act doesn’t consider virtual attendees as in attendance for the purposes of voting.
- Please look for the NBAD Annual Report, Strategic Plan and educational resources to be sent to you in the week leading up to this event.
- Please note – all presentations and printed documents for both the AGM & Educational Sessions will be available in both French and English. While the speakers will be presenting in English only, a designated bilingual RD will be available during each session to field any questions or comments in French.
- We still need coordinators for several sites at this time: St. John Regional, Miramichi Hospital and the Upper River Valley Hospital. If you can assist in this event, it would be appreciated.
Legislation News – NB Dietetics Legislation Forum was a success!
The NBAD Legislation Committee is currently reviewing the NB Dietitians Act and Regulations. The Committee will be making recommendations to the members regarding changes to the Act. In the winter/spring of 2016 the Committee surveyed members to identify issues and concerns that could potentially be reviewed. The feedback from this survey was used to develop an agenda for this meeting.
The purpose of this meeting (April 30, 2016) was to solicit comments and suggestions from a group of stakeholders regarding key aspects of the Act that may require change. This information will inform the development of recommendations by the Committee. The meeting was facilitated by Elaine Leclerc. Here is what a few participants had to say:
• Awesome job today. Very well organized, informative and productive!!!
• The documents were very detailed and complete. It showed a lot of hard and dedicated work. I am sure your predicted target timeline will be met!
• The topic was heavy but the flow was very good, started on time, finished on time!
We invite all members to check out the NBAD website to view the Power Point presentation from this Forum. Please stay tuned for more updates as the committee progresses with consultation, research and drafting of the new Dietitians Act.
Continuing Competency Program (CCP) – The QA Committee is recruiting!
Do you have an interest in RDs maintaining competence? We need you!
