Program Requirements

The focus of the New Brunswick Association of Dietitians (NBAD) is a regulatory function. The mission of the Association is “to regulate and maintain excellence in dietetic practice for the protection of the people of New Brunswick”. As part of this, NBAD is obligated to ensure all Temporary and Active members participate in the Continuing Competence Program (CCP) annually.

To maintain registration with NBAD, all Registered Dietitians must:

  • Participate in the mandatory CCP each year of registration, regardless of employment status (see exception below);
  • Complete the four steps of the CCP (Self-Assessment, Learning Goals, Activity Log and Self-Reflection) for two learning goals during the current CCP year and submit the required learning plans to NBAD during the online registration renewal by March 31;
  • Identify two learning goals for the upcoming CCP year and submit them to NBAD during the online registration renewal by March 31.

I am a new member of NBAD, do I need to participate in the CCP?

New members of NBAD registered between April 1 and September 30 of the current registration year are required to submit learning plans for the current CCP year during registration renewal in March.

New members of NBAD registered between October 1 and March 31 of the current registration year are not required to submit learning plans for the current CCP year during registration renewal in March. However, they must participate in the upcoming CCP year. They will be required to identify and submit their two learning goals for the upcoming CCP year during registration renewal in March.

If I resign from NBAD by March 31, do I need to submit my CCP learning plan?

If a member resigns by March 31, they will not be required to report their CCP learning plans to NBAD. Only those who maintain their registration must submit their learning plans.

To resign in good standing, send a letter to the NBAD office or an email to the Registrar at registrar@adnb-nbad.com stating the reason of resignation and date in effect. A member who does not plan to renew their registration must send a resignation request by March 31 to avoid suspension.

I am retiring from practice in the upcoming year and it will be my last year as a member of NBAD, do I need to participate in the CCP?

Active members who are retiring from practice in the upcoming registration year and will not be renewing their registration the following year can submit a letter to the NBAD office or an email to the Registrar at registrar@adnb-nbad.com requesting for an exemption from the CCP for their last year of registration. The written request must clearly state that it will be their last year of registration as an Active member as they are retiring from practice. The request must be received by March 1 prior to the upcoming registration year.
