The New Brunswick Association of Dietitians is looking for volunteers and/or nominations for the 2026-2027 year for the following:

1. Board of Directors – Member at Large (volunteer)
2. Discipline Committee – Lay Representative (nominations)
3. NBAD – Honorary Member (nominations)

1. MEMBER AT LARGE

We are looking for an active member who is interested in joining the Board of Directors for the Member at Large position. This position is for a 2-year mandate starting June 2026:

Primary responsibilities of the Member at Large include:

  • Providing linkage between the Board and Committees (Quality Assurance and Registration Committees).
  • Participating in quarterly Board meetings.
  • Assisting the Registrar with nominations of the Board or Committee vacancies.
  • Is an active member of the Board discussions and decisions.

All Board of Directors of the NBAD are provided with an honorarium of $75/meeting to a maximum of $500/year, as dictated in NBAD By-law VIII 5.1.

2. LAY REPRESENTATIVE (NOMINATIONS)

Our current Lay Representative on the Discipline Committee, Ms. Stephanie Edwards, has completed their second 2-year term, and it is time to consider a new appointment. As part of our
regulatory and governance obligations, we are required to submit a list of four potential candidates for consideration for this position.

A Lay Representative plays a critical role in bringing an extern al perspective to the Committee, helping to ensure transparency, accountability, and the continued public trust in our
profession. This individual cannot be a member of the Association, as the position is specifically intended for someone outside of the dietetics profession.

We are reaching out to you to help us identify and encourage suitable candidates to apply. If you know someone who may be a good fit for this important role, perhaps a community leader,
advocate, or professional with a strong interest in public service, please consider discussing this opportunity with them.

3. HONORARY MEMBER (NORMINATIONS)

In accordance with By-Law III, Retired or Honorary Members, Honorary Membership may be granted to a person in recognition of distinguished service or valuable contribution to the
dietetic profession. Approval of Honorary Membership is by resolution of the Board and Members at an Annual Meeting.

If you wish to nominate a past NBAD member or Retired Status NBAD Member (Retired Member class) for an Honorary Membership (Active Status Members do not qualify), please
complete and submit the form in attachment to the NBAD office by Friday, May 15, 2026. Please consult the criteria details of this prestigious nomination in the attached form.

4. DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE

The New Brunswick Association of Dietitians is pleased to announce two opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated active members to join our Discipline Committee.

As you know, the NBAD regulates the practice of dietetics in order to protect the public. It ensures that members of the profession meet standards of professional conduct, competence, and ethics in accordance with the Act Respecting the profession.

The Discipline Committee supports this mandate by reviewing concerns related to professional misconduct, incompetence, and breaches of professional secrecy.

Commitment:

  • attend meetings as required
  • review materials in advance of meetings and participate actively and respectfully in discussions
  • exercise sound judgment and fairness in decision making
  • act honestly, in good faith, and in the best interest of public protection
  • maintain confidentiality and demonstrate discretion at all times
