Dietitians Act Newsletter #3: A Sneak Peek at New Possibilities

Welcome to our third Dietitians Act Newsletter: Legislation that Nourishes Change. In this edition, we’re sharing two key proposals aimed at shaping the future of our profession while ensuring the public is protected:

1. Defining Advanced Practices: What’s on the Table
With dietitians across Canada stepping into more advanced roles, New Brunswick is preparing to define and support this important shift. The proposed changes will reflect what many dietitians are already doing and provide a pathway for future growth.

Stay tuned for more updates on advanced practices!

2. Protecting the title Nutritionist. Protecting the Public.

Right now in New Brunswick, anyone can call themselves a “Nutritionist” regardless of training or qualifications. We’re working to change that. One of our key proposals is to formally protect the title, so only Registered Dietitians can use it. This change would bring New Brunswick in line with other provinces and strengthen the credibility of our profession.

Why it matters:
✔ Builds public trust
✔ Recognizes your expertise
✔ Helps people make informed choices about their health
